WHY I LEFT SOCIAL MEDIA

Me fed up with social media

If you’re reading this, it’s probably because I shared the link on my Facebook page — which is, in a way, my final post. I’ve decided to quit social media for good. And yes, I know what you’re thinking: “Brittani, aren’t you a social media manager?” You’re right, I am, and no, I’m not quitting my job. But this is likely the last you’ll see of me on social platforms outside of YouTube (more on that later), and maybe Pinterest… or Reddit, if you can figure out who I am. 😆

Now, I know you’re wondering if I’m really leaving, and if this time it’s for real. Yes, it is. I’m stepping away because social media has started to bring out a toxic side of me and hasn’t been helping my mental health. Plus, I was tired of just being “watched” without genuine interaction. So, I’m going back to something I’ve always loved: blogging.

Blogging has always been my true outlet because I love to write. Here, I get to tell my own story, in my own words, without an algorithm or AI bot controlling who gets to see it. Some of you might even remember my Life of the College Girl blog from the early 2000s. Think of this as a grown-up version of that.

This new blog is like my own personal Facebook, but there’s more. I’ve also decided to add YouTube to the mix. I started on YouTube about 12 years ago, doing wig reviews, but stopped because I didn’t love being on camera. Now, I’m taking a different approach. I see so many “voice-over” gaming videos, and while I’m not a gamer, I love graphic design. So, I created a Loom account and started recording myself creating graphics in Canva. That’s my content for now, and you can check out my channel here.

At the end of the day, I just wanted to take control of my story, which is why I created Brittani’s Bubble. I’m not here for engagement, fame, or money. I’m here to tell my story as it is.

So, goodbye social media (I even deleted TikTok), and welcome back to my 2008-style blogging. I hope you enjoy it here and enjoy following along on my journey.
