Why Writers Shouldn’t Post To Instagram

Like stop already. It’s cringe.

You heard me!

So I just created and set up my account on a newsletter site. I don’t know if I should say the name of it here. It’s Substack. After writing my last article on here I decided to finally go over there and make my page pretty a whole 3 weeks after downloading the app and signing up. Honestly, I didn’t want to jump from platform to platform. As someone allegedly “left social media” I somehow ended up with 2 more Instagram pages, a Facebook page, and now a Substack newsletter. Ain’t that bout a bitch! But don’t worry it’s all “business-related” so it’s fine.

Anyway, this morning I woke up with Substack on my mind. After checking to see if I had any new subs (I didn’t) and liking and “re-stacking” some notes, I decided to go to their Instagram page because why not? Well, I shouldn’t have because WTF is this?

Their Instagram page looks like when millennials and Gen X try to appeal to younger audiences. It’s terrible. Reels about Chappell Roan, who I’m sure most of their target audience isn’t familiar with outside of her red carpet blow-ups. This is me assuming their target audience isn’t Gen Z and more Millennials and Gen X since younger people aren’t “reading all that” and definitely not subscribing to nobody’s newsletter. The memes about writing, the other cringy reels featuring some blonde chick…
